Open source R&D project

We research, build, and share policy development using AI.

AIPOL is an open-source project that researches and develops methods and tools for using AI, from defining policy problems to evidence research, alternative development, opinion gathering, and review.

What we develop

A collaborative research foundation for the entire policy development process

Developing a foundation for researchers and policy practitioners to co-create, verify, and refine cases, rather than a finished service.

01 / METHOD

Methodology

Designing AI and human roles, inputs, and review criteria for each policy development stage.

02 / ENGINE

Research Engine

Representing policy levers, evidence, review procedures, and protocols as reproducible code.

03 / PLATFORM

Application Tools

Developing tools for online research, expert workshops, citizen participation, and field experiments.

04 / COMMONS

Open Knowledge

Accumulating cases, prompts, execution conditions, failures, and limitations as open source.

History

R&D Initiated from Pension Reform Policy Experiment

Methods and technologies created during the first project are being developed into a common foundation reusable for other policy research.

Initiating Pension Reform Research

The Policy Research Team and AI Team have commenced independent research.

Framework Development

Encoded protocols, safeguards, and synthetic citizen pre-experiments.

Building Public Infrastructure

Organized the project site and repository to share methodologies, cases, and tools.

First Field Application

Scheduled for verification at the Korean Association for Policy Studies flagship session.

Korea + AI policy development

Connecting Korean AI capabilities to policy development capabilities.

Korea is pursuing independent AI foundation model development and open-source ecosystem expansion. AIPOL aims to contribute to Korea becoming a leading case in AI-based policy development by accumulating public cases that apply and verify domestic AI models in evidence investigation, alternative exploration, opinion structuring, and review processes.

Korean Policy Context

Verifying the practical policy research applicability of Korean AI handling legal, institutional, and social contexts.

Independent Model Comparison

Compare proposal and review characteristics of different domestic models, including LG EXAONE, Solar, and HCX.

Open Verification

Share not only outcomes but also model differences, errors, costs, and limitations through cases and code.
